Ya’ll I might have gone off the deep end, I painted my staircase peach…..Yep you heard me right, PEACH!!! I am so excited to share with you how to makeover your stairs: My DIY painted staircase!

We removed the carpet from the stairs last summer. During the Haven Conference last year we won a chance to do a fun project with Wood Grain.

the project turned out amazing and allowed us to add some charm to these walls. I just love all the white in this space, but I wanted to do something bold this year.

Something to wow my guests, and show off a little of my creative side! So why not have my stairs match my peach decor this year? I have to say my husband thought I lost my mind when I pulled out the peach paint.

But he has learned over time to trust my creative mind, and let me do my thing!

When we first moved into the house this space didn’t excite me to sat the least. It was very dark and had zero character.

We started by removing the carpet. I had no idea what we would find underneath. Keep in mind it is a 100+ year old home.

I just love the original hardwood stairs. Unfortunately someone had painted them or I would have left the original wood.

The hardest part of this process was removing all of the staples. I think there were thousands, but nothing needle nose pliers couldn’t fix.

Once that was done we filled all the holes with wood filler, and began the sanding process. This was a bit of a mess so we decided to tape of plastic tarps to keep the dust/paint from flying around the kitchen. Smart move for sure!

So as much as I have loved the white stairs, with warmer weather around the bend, I was craving something fun and bright! We decided on Behr Mandarin Extra Durable Satin Enamel Interior Paint & Primer with scuff defense. Since this is a high traffic area.

Decorating

Now came the fun part, time too decorate. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do on this wall. But then it hit me, why not take all the amazing vintage plates I have been collecting and display them here. Nothing says spring or summer like floral plates!

When I came across this vintage Campfire marshmallow tin, I thought it would look adorable on the staircase the peach tint of the tin was a perfect match. I found a few online if you have been on the hunt for 1, 2, or 3.

I cannot get enough of these peach florals. From the peonies, to the white roses, I just love this so much!

Just added this peach checkered ribbon and it completed the look!

This vintage basket caught my eye, at Goodwill of all places! I just added a 4″ peach ribbon and some faux peaches, until the real ones spring up! I hope you enjoyed our how to makeover your stairs: My DIY painted staircase!
