What Is a 1:12 Scale Miniature Greenhouse?

If you’re new to the world of dollhouse miniatures, you may be wondering what 1:12 scale actually means.

It simply means that one inch in your miniature represents approximately one foot in real life.

It’s one of the most popular scales for dollhouses, which is wonderful because there are SO many cute 1:12 scale miniature accessories available.

Obviously we have to start with plants!

Miniature plants are one of the easiest ways to transform an empty dollhouse greenhouse.

Try mixing different types instead of using the same plant over and over. Tiny ferns, succulents, leafy houseplants, flowers, seedlings, and vines all look adorable together.

I especially love mixing different shades of green because it makes the greenhouse look more realistic.

You can also place plants at different heights. Put some on the floor, some on shelves, and a few on a miniature table or potting bench.

The goal is for it to look a little imperfect.

A real greenhouse isn’t perfectly styled, and your tiny one doesn’t need to be either.

Every gardener needs somewhere to work.

You know I couldn’t make a miniature without sneaking a little vintage farmhouse style into it.

Try adding weathered wood, old-looking pots, galvanized metal accessories, tiny baskets, wooden crates, or a miniature stool.

You can even age some of your pieces with paint or stain.

The more collected it feels, the better.

I love the idea that this tiny greenhouse has supposedly been sitting behind an old farmhouse for generations.

Add Miniature Garden Tools

Tiny shovels.

Mini rakes.

Little garden shears.

Why are miniature versions of normal things so much cuter?

Lean your miniature gardening tools against a wall or place them on your potting bench.

This is another inexpensive way to add detail without overcrowding your greenhouse.

Who says a greenhouse has to be all work?

This is where things can get REALLY fun.
